Quad Biking in the Palm Grove or Agafay: Three Hours or a Whole Evening

Updated October 1, 2026 · 7 min read

Five quad bikes lined up with their riders on a dirt track among palm trees

If you’re coming to Marrakesh to drive, the answer is the three-hour trip in the palm grove and Jbilat desert: two hours in the saddle out of a three-hour programme, from €11.88 per person, 4.8 out of 5 for 13,975 reviews. If you’re coming for an evening in the desert, take an Agafay package like the Quad Biking, Camel Ride and Dinner Show: seven hours, €19.87, but the quad bike only takes up 40 minutes of it. The same machine, two days out that have almost nothing in common: the question isn’t the machine, it’s the schedule.

Starting prices are per person. Quad biking is Marrakesh’s best-selling activity after day trips: 65 offers, from €9.55, with a median of €35.28 and 174,124 reviews combined.

The palm grove: three hours out, two hours in the saddle

The Quad Bike Tour to Palm Oasis and Jbilat Desert shows €11.88, 13,975 reviews and 4.8 out of 5, for three hours.

Its booking page sets out the itinerary: hotel pick-up, a 20 to 25-minute minibus ride to the quad area, a 10-minute safety briefing, helmet and goggles, then two hours of guided riding, with a photo stop and a mint tea break served with bread and honey.

Two hours of riding for a three-hour trip: driving takes up most of the programme, transfers included. This is the format to pick if you’re coming to drive. The neighbouring Dunes of the Palmeraie Quad Bike Ride with Tea, €11.78 and 7,114 reviews, follows the same three-hour format with a tea break, helmet and goggles included.

Agafay: the quad as a starter, dinner as the main course

The Agafay packages tell a different story. The most-reviewed of them all, the Quad Biking, Camel Ride and Dinner Show, runs for seven hours at €20.65 and combines quad biking, a camel ride and a dinner show. The Quad Biking and Dinner Show runs to six hours at €17.72, and the Sunset Quad, Camel Ride & Dinner also runs six hours at €18.38.

The price gap with the palm grove is small — €6.70 between the Jbilat desert trip and the Quad Biking and Dinner Show — but it doesn’t buy more quad time: it buys a longer transfer, a meal and a show. The length of the quad section itself is stated on the page of the package you choose and can’t be worked out from the total duration. We cover the running order of these evenings in our article on Agafay by quad, camel and dinner show and compare the packages in Agafay desert tours: which package to choose.

The question to ask yourself, then, is about the evening, not the machine. Do you want to be back in Marrakesh by midday with dust in your hair, or dining under a tent after sunset? Both answers are good ones; they just aren’t booked in the same place.

Who drives, who rides behind

This is the point that surprises families the most, and it differs from one offer to the next.

OfferStated rule for children
Palm Grove and Jbilat DesertPer the booking page: under 13, the child rides behind an adult; not suitable for children under 4
Dunes of the Palmeraie with TeaUnder 16, the child rides behind an adult

Both pages state that no driving licence is required and that a child rate exists. On the Jbilat desert trip, it’s also stated that two people can share a quad bike if the booking is for two participants, and that taking part while under the influence of alcohol is strictly forbidden.

Do the maths before booking. With two adults and two ten-year-olds, neither child will be driving: you need two quad bikes and two adult drivers, and each child spends two hours sitting behind. It’s still a good outing, but it isn’t the one the child saw in the photo. The age limits for all the activities are listed in our guide quad, hot-air balloon and camel: minimum age.

Buggy, rain and personal belongings

If driving as a pair matters more than driving solo, there are also buggies: the Palm Grove and Desert Buggy excursion, €38.59 and 2,927 reviews, offers a two-seater buggy and two hours of driving, and states that an odd number of participants means paying for an extra seat to drive alone. Its page also states it isn’t suitable for pregnant women, as does the Dunes of the Palmeraie ride.

Two practical points round out the picture on the Jbilat desert trip: in the case of heavy rain or dangerous conditions, the activity may be cancelled, with a full refund or rescheduling; and the operator accepts no liability for lost personal belongings, recommending against bringing anything valuable. Helmet and goggles are provided, but nothing is said about child-size equipment: that’s a question worth asking before you pay.

When I wouldn’t book

With a child under four, the question doesn’t arise: both palm grove trips exclude them. With a child who dislikes noise and dust, two hours in the saddle is a long time, and the palm grove is dry. If someone needs to sit out, an Agafay package where you can wait at the camp is a better choice than a trip where everyone rides. And if you’re after a calm first experience, say so to the guide during the briefing rather than at the first bend.

Our recommendation

For anyone coming to drive above all, the quad bike trip in the palm grove and Jbilat desert is the best value: two hours in the saddle out of a three-hour trip, €11.88, and 13,975 reviews behind it. It isn’t a good fit if you want an evening at the camp, or with a child under four.

Small budget or the same format for a little less: the Dunes of the Palmeraie Quad Bike Ride with Tea at €11.78, with a stricter rule for children, who ride behind an adult until age 16.

For an evening in the desert rather than a dusty morning: the Agafay quad, camel ride and dinner-show evening at €20.65, or the Sunset Quad, Camel Ride & Dinner at €18.38, the best-rated of the five at 4.9 out of 5. In both cases, the quad bike is just one block of the programme.

And if you’d rather ride side by side, the Palm Grove and Desert Buggy excursion at €38.59 is the option for two, three times the price: its age and billing rules are in buggy or quad bike in Marrakesh. The rest of the offer is on our page quad biking in Marrakesh and, for the evenings, in Agafay desert.
