What should you do in Marrakesh in two days without overplanning?

Updated October 9, 2026 · 6 min read

Ochre medina rooftops with the pale Atlas Mountains on the horizon

For a first stay, we would book the tour through the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, souk and medina on the first morning. Four hours give the most important places a structure without blocking the whole day. The afternoon stays free. On the second day you choose between Ben Youssef with the Secret Garden for more of the city and an Agafay evening for a change of scenery. Booking all three fills both days: two days need one free half-day.

Day 1: understand the medina, then stop ticking things off

The four-hour tour links the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the medina and Jemaa el-Fna. You do not spend the first morning looking for entrances. However, several stops mean more walking, and you check admission fees in the option you choose instead of assuming they are included.

Afterwards you go for a meal and return on your own to the neighbourhood you liked. A second guided tour that same afternoon turns discoveries into a checklist.

Day 2: deepen the city or choose a contrast

The three-hour walk links the Ben Youssef Medersa, the Secret Garden and the souks. It emphasises interior architecture and a garden, but repeats part of the market atmosphere. Take it if Marrakesh itself is the goal.

The four-hour Agafay tour combines sunset, a camel ride along an old Berber path and a dinner show in a desert camp. Unlike an Ouzoud or Essaouira excursion, it leaves the morning free. It is not quiet: dinner and entertainment go together, and the sunset sets the schedule.

Our recommendation

Book the Bahia, tombs, souk and medina tour for day one. On the second day you choose exactly one direction: Ben Youssef for more city or Agafay for desert scenery. That way meals, routes and the unexpected remain part of the trip.
