Marrakesh to Fes via the Sahara: is the three-day tour right for your trip?

Updated September 12, 2026 · 4 min read

Two travellers holding hands beside dunes in low sunlight

The Sahara tour from Marrakesh to Fes answers a different question from the usual Merzouga return circuit: how can you include the desert in a journey that continues elsewhere? It can combine a Sahara experience with moving to another city. However, it does not automatically return you to the riad where you left your belongings. Resolve that difference before choosing your camp.

Our catalogue snapshot dated 12 September 2026 lists 473012, Marrakesh–Fes in three days from €97.40 per person, with 3,904 reviews and a rating of 4.8 out of 5. Its description advertises the Sahara, camel rides and camping overnight. This is a catalogue starting price, not a quotation for your date or a particular tent category.

The published route visits Aït Benhaddou and Tinghir, then Todra and the Sahara camp, before the Middle Atlas and Fes. Operator itinerary.

Start with where you want to sleep afterwards

If Fes is your next destination, consider this option before booking a trip that returns to Marrakesh. You can then build your itinerary around moving onwards. If your return flight and all your accommodation are already booked in Marrakesh, finishing in Fes instead creates another journey to arrange and pay for.

Draw a simple sequence on your calendar: final night in Marrakesh, three days on the circuit, first night in Fes. Check for overlapping bookings and missing nights. Three days does not mean that accommodation on your arrival evening in Fes is included. Have the operator confirm that in the inclusions.

Direction also matters in search results. A product starting in Fes and ending in Marrakesh is not interchangeable with this one. Even if the photographs and stops look right, your confirmation must show Marrakesh as the pickup location.

Three days travelling are not three days in the dunes

The description combines transport, riding and camping. Read it as a circuit with time in the vehicle and intermediate stops, rather than a fixed desert stay. The available summary does not provide a complete daily timetable; we do not invent one using another excursion.

Request the updated itinerary, both overnight accommodation details and the expected driving time each day. A useful reply separates sightseeing stops from practical breaks. A day with many advertised stops can still leave little free time when all the driving has to fit into the same programme.

To decide, identify what you would accept spending less time on. If a long evening at camp is your priority, check the expected desert arrival. If you want unhurried visits along the way, ask how long you actually spend at each stop. A list of place names does not replace that information.

The price difference from a return circuit is not enough

The 482521 Merzouga circuit starts at €116.16 in the same snapshot. The calculated difference from 473012 is €18.91 per person. These products finish in different places, so that does not establish a saving on identical services.

For two adults, the starting price for 473012 comes to €196.40, before options and excluded expenses. Add meals you pay for, any paid visits and the journey from the Fes drop-off point to your accommodation. Ask for missing amounts rather than interpreting circuit as all-inclusive.

Our three-day Merzouga article explains the return route. Compare both after fixing your arrival and departure cities in Morocco. A ticket with a higher starting price can still avoid arrangements that do not suit your holiday.

Your luggage has to move cities too

On a trip returning to the same riad, you can sometimes arrange luggage storage with your accommodation. Here, leaving a large suitcase in Marrakesh means collecting it later. If you really are continuing to Fes, ask the operator what luggage can travel with you and how it is handled during the camp night.

Clarify what stays in the vehicle and what you take to your sleeping accommodation. A small overnight bag can simplify moving around, but does not replace confirmation that your suitcase is accepted. The inclusion of transport alone does not guarantee storage arrangements.

Keep your arrival evening in Fes available

Get the drop-off location, an estimated arrival time and the procedure for delays. Then inform your accommodation. I would leave that first evening free, particularly if reaching the riad involves another meeting or local transfer.

I would not book a tight connection on arrival day based on an assumed timetable. The catalogue does not guarantee connections. Staying overnight gives you more flexibility before an important departure; that is a planning choice, not a promise against every delay.

Finally, check tent occupancy, bathroom arrangements and the participation conditions for your booking. Sahara circuits differ as much in those details as in their photographs. If changing cities complicates your trip, go back to your calendar and choose the return route before comparing camp categories.
