Bahia Palace and Saadian Tombs: guided tour or tickets only?

Updated October 7, 2026 · 6 min read

For most travellers, take the guided tour of the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the souks and the medina: four hours, €15.16 per person, 4.7 out of 5 for 7,994 reviews, the most reviewed of these tours. It does not include the entrance fees, which are paid in cash on the spot: 100 MAD for the Bahia and 100 MAD for the tombs, per adult. If you have less time, the three-hour version with the Koutoubia is €8; if you would rather go alone, there is a Bahia ticket with digital audio guide at €11.49.

What the tour includes, and what it does not

According to the offer page, the four-hour tour takes in the Koutoubia seen from the outside, the Kasbah, the Bab Agnaou gate, the Saadian Tombs (about 40 minutes), the Mellah, the Bahia Palace (about 45 minutes) and the souks of the medina. The offer includes a licensed guide, queue-free access to the monuments, a choice of group or private format and, for the private option only, pick-up at your riad in the medina. The meeting point is in front of the Café de France on Jemaa el-Fna square, and the tour ends in the same place.

What it does not include is the entrance fee: 100 MAD for the Bahia and 100 MAD for the Saadian Tombs per adult, payable in cash on the spot. For children aged 7 to 13, the page states 30 MAD per monument, and entry is free under 7. So budget for the tour price plus these two entrance fees: for the euro equivalent, convert at the day’s rate. The page also recommends bringing cash.

A few limits of the tour, before you book

The Koutoubia can only be visited from the outside: entry is reserved for Muslims. At the Bahia Palace, the page states that some parts may be under renovation, and two recent reviews of the ticket-only offer confirm it: part of the palace could not be seen. At the Saadian Tombs, the queue inside can still be long, even if the guide spares you the first one.

The tour is on foot, for a long time. The offer page lists people with reduced mobility among those for whom it is not suitable. And the guide speaks English and French: if you want another language, the three-hour version with the Koutoubia offers English, French, Italian, German and Arabic.

Three hours or four: choosing between the two tours

The three-hour version leaves out the souks and the medina, and its rating is lower: 4.5 out of 5 against 4.7. It also offers a transport option with hotel pick-up, which the page presents as a choice to make when booking.

The ticket alone: who is it for?

The Bahia ticket with audio guide includes entry, at €11.49, unlike the guided tours, which do not include entry; it covers only this palace, not the tombs. Its rating is the lowest of the group, 3.9 out of 5 for 1,282 reviews. The page states that it is non-refundable. You go at your own pace, without live commentary, and the works mentioned above apply to you too.

It suits you if you already know the medina and the palace is your only goal. If you want to understand what you are seeing, a guided tour gives you more for a similar price.

Bahia and madrasa: the other combination

The tour with the Bahia, the Ben Youssef Madrasa and the medina replaces the Saadian Tombs with the madrasa, and costs €15.09 for four hours, 4.7 out of 5. Choose it if madrasa architecture interests you more than the tombs; our article on the Ben Youssef Madrasa and the Secret Garden covers this tour in detail.

Our recommendation

For most travellers: the four-hour guided tour at €15.09, with the tombs, the Bahia and the souks. Allow 200 MAD in entrance fees per adult, in cash and on top, and bring comfortable shoes. It is not suitable if you have difficulty walking or if you want a language other than English and French.

With less time, or for another language, take the three-hour version at €15.00. For the rest of the programme, our guide to what to see in Marrakesh places the districts, and the guided tours of the medina bring together the other departures.
